Can Sanity Studio v2 be updated to v3 locally before deploying live?

Hey everyone ! im about to update sanity studio from v2 to v3. I am reading up on the step to step guide on updating and just wondering, can this be done locally and tested before changing live ? maybe a silly question ?

Hi! You can test locally. As long as you don’t touch the structure of your documents, if you don’t deploy, no problems
