# Improved asset metadata, in-use references, and clearer duplicate upload feedback

**Version:** v2026-07-02

**Published:** July 2, 2026

This release improves how you view asset metadata, makes the "in use" dialog more comprehensive, and surfaces clearer feedback when uploading duplicate files.

## Improved metadata display

You can now see richer metadata across all sidebar views in the Media Library. Folders and collections display who created them along with creation and update timestamps, while collections also show an asset count. Assets show the uploader and upload date sourced from the selected version, and videos display a formatted duration.

When viewing an asset through a shortcut, you'll see metadata for both the shortcut and the original asset in clearly labelled sections. All metadata lives under a single collapsible toggle that remembers your preference across different sidebars.

## Enhanced "in use" references

The asset references dialog now shows you everywhere an asset is actually used, including draft documents and content releases, not just published content. Each reference displays a status badge matching Studio's visual language, so you can quickly identify whether a reference is a draft, published, or part of a release.

Every reference row is clickable and opens the document directly in Studio with the correct perspective. When your dataset is served by multiple Studio workspaces, a picker lets you choose which workspace to open. The picker remembers your last-used workspace and pins it to the top, and you can hold Cmd/Ctrl while clicking to skip the picker entirely and go straight to your preferred workspace.

## 🐛 Notable bugfixes

- Uploading a file or video that conflicts with an existing asset version now shows a clear inline error in the Versions panel instead of failing silently, with a link to view the conflicting asset when applicable
- Assets uploaded via API tokens now correctly display in the sidebar metadata instead of showing an endless loading spinner.
