Media Library 2026-06-18
Published: June 18, 2026
This release brings video asset versioning to the Media Library, letting you manage multiple versions of your videos the same way you manage images and files. You'll also find improved filter performance and search capabilities across several facets.
Video asset versioning
You can now upload new versions of video assets, view version history, and promote any version to be the current one—the same versioning workflow that was already available for images and files. When you upload a new version, the "Set as current" button stays disabled until transcoding completes, then automatically enables without needing a refresh.
If you're using videos in Studio documents and promote a new version, the "Set as current and sync all usage" option updates all references to point to the new version. When promoting a video that has subtitles, you'll see a confirmation dialog letting you know that subtitles may need updating since they're tied to specific versions.
Searchable filter facets for large libraries
The Location, Collections, and Uploader filter facets now include search functionality and limit the number of suggestions shown. If your library has a large number of folders, collections, or users, you will now see a manageable list and can search to find specific values.
Improved array aspect filter search
You can now search for partial matches within array aspects in the filter menu. For example, typing "12" will surface values like "12", "123", or "4127".
🐛 Notable bugfixes
- Fixed an issue where the user avatar in the sidebar would scroll with the folder list instead of staying fixed at the bottom when viewing the Media Library from within Sanity Studio
- Fixed array aspect filter suggestions ignoring the search input entirely, returning empty results instead of matching values
- Fixed an issue where an asset uploaded using an API token could prevent the filter menu from displaying user suggestions
