Expanded docs for Sanity Context, Functions, Presentation, and more

There was no changelog entry in August, so this entry covers two months of documentation updates. Highlights include a restructured Sanity Context section with new Knowledge Base and framework guides, upgrade guides for every Studio major version, new Functions and Presentation Tool guides, and new troubleshooting docs for Agent Actions, dataset backups, and account management.

The Sanity Context docs are now organized around what you're trying to do, from connecting your first agent to keeping a Knowledge Base current. Notable new and updated articles include:

• Quick start: connect an agent to Sanity Context: install the Sanity Context skill, run the guided setup, and confirm your agent can read your content.
• Inline initial context into your system prompt: fetch initial context over HTTP to remove a round trip from every conversation.
• Context retrieval modes: how GROQ mode and Knowledge Bases differ, and when each one fits.
• Content access and security: how the organization token, the MCP's sources, and groqFilter decide what a connected agent can read.
• Four Knowledge Base guides: Create a Knowledge Base, Knowledge Base source types, Keep a Knowledge Base current, and Resolve Knowledge Base issues.
• Framework guides for the Vercel AI SDK, LangChain, and the OpenAI Agents SDK, with examples tested end to end.

If your agent uses the Context Studio plugin, Migrate from the Context Studio plugin to the new Context app walks you through the move.

Studio v4 to v5 and Studio v5 to v6 complete the major-by-major upgrade path, and Upgrading Sanity Studio now links to each guide. For App SDK apps, App SDK v2 to v3 covers the changes in @sanity/sdk-react 3.0.0. The older Studio migration guides now pin the install to the major version they teach, instead of sanity@latest.

The new Create a PubSub function quick start and Function to function invocation guide show how to trigger a Sanity Function from another function. The Functions introduction also documents the recursion limit: a chain of invocations stops after 16 calls.

A new guide, Keep Presentation fast on large pages, covers four ways to cut preview latency on page-builder pages: per-section queries, scoped revalidation, narrower preview projections, and deferred sections. Other Visual Editing additions:

• Configuring the Presentation Tool shows how to serve multiple frontends from one studio with a previewMode resolver, and how to troubleshoot a frontend behind its own authentication.
• Presentation Resolver API covers wildcard and catch-all routes.
• Create Studio edit intent links documents resolveEditUrl.
• Client setup and stega for visual editing explains when stega.studioUrl needs your studio's base path and workspace, so click-to-edit works outside the Presentation Tool.
• Troubleshooting Visual Editing quotes the exact console messages that @sanity/visual-editing logs to make debugging easier.

Guidance for getting data out of, and back into, your datasets:

• New guide: Export a dataset covers what the export archive contains, how Media Library assets are included, and how to diagnose a 404 during export.
• Restore a deleted dataset from a backup explains that a restore never deletes documents missing from the backup, so it isn't a point-in-time reset.

New troubleshooting and configuration docs for Sanity's AI tools:

• New guide: Troubleshoot Agent Actions requests diagnoses failed requests by status code, covering 401s, 403s, schema and API version errors, usage limits, and silent no-ops.
• Agent Actions patterns shows how to exclude fields from Agent Actions at the schema level.
• New guide: Set custom instructions for the Content Agent covers how to add guidelines, like tone of voice or house style, for yourself or your whole organization.

Updates for managing your Sanity account and how people sign in:

• Projects created without an account explains how sanity new creates a project with temporary credentials, and how to claim it within 72 hours.
• New guides: Manage your account and a rewritten Delete your account, including how to clear the checks that block deletion when you're the last administrator.
• Account recovery explains that signing in with a different provider at the same email address creates a separate account, and how to move to a different sign-in method.
• Setting up single sign-on with SAML adds how to change your identity provider, which login screens a studio's SAML-only setting covers, and troubleshooting for common login failures.

Alongside the new and updated docs content, the platform picked up a variety of fixes.

• Wide tables no longer run underneath the On this page sidebar. They stay inside the article column and scroll sideways instead.
• Long inline code values, including OpenAPI example payloads, now wrap inside the article card instead of overflowing it in Firefox.
• Code blocks and tables inside collapsed reusable-content accordions now stay within the accordion's border.
• llms.txt now lists each page with the same title and description the page itself shows, instead of mixing in SEO descriptions.
• Images and buttons with internal links now render correctly inside tabs.
• Internal links inside table cells now render as working links.
• The lightbox now gives transparent images a solid, theme-aware background, so diagrams stay readable when expanded.
• On phones, the docs homepage no longer extends past the edge of the screen, and the getting-started command is fully readable.
