East Wood Accountancy Taxation first reached out when they were unable to update content on their site and unsure why they were not able to access their admin page by simply typing /admin.
However, upon my investigation, it turned out they were under the impression by their previous developer that they had a WordPress site, which would of actually let them edit content. But it was all built with static PHP files.
Couple of months go by and it was time to modernise the look, giving the website a complete design overhaul to adopt a modern and user-friendly interface.
Despite the old site being fast due to its static nature, it suffered from accessibility, responsiveness, and SEO issues. Addressing these without compromising on load times plus adding the absence of a CMS was crucial.
Next.js and Sanity were introduced to modernise the site and add the functionality of a CMS. Next.js was chosen for its static site generation capabilities, fast load times and seamless integration with Sanity.
The new design focused on keeping things clean and usable, incorporating the brand's orangey gold colour to maintain a warm and friendly vibe. The goal was to make information easily accessible within a few clicks, improving the overall user experience.
By leveraging Next.js, the new site achieved a near-perfect score on Google PageSpeed, signifying improvements in speed, accessibility, responsiveness, and SEO.
The project was a comprehensive effort to transform East Wood Accountancy Taxation's online presence. It involved overcoming significant challenges through strategic choices in technology and design, ultimately leading to a modern, efficient, and user-friendly website.
